Family vacation home near Sundance Resort in Utah County completely destroyed after building fire | News, Sports, Jobs
According to the North Fork Fire Department, a fire completely destroyed a vacation home near the Sundance Mountain Resort on the Alpine Loop near Provo early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews received a call around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday morning about a fire in a two-story building near 3093 East and Deer Run Road.
“So it was in a residential building up at the Sundance Ski Resort. I don’t think they rent it out, but it’s kind of a family cabin,” said Chief Dave Marcella of the North Fork Fire Department.
When the rescue team arrived, the house was already fully ablaze; the fire had also partially spread to surrounding trees.

Marcella said their first attack was to make sure the fire didn’t spread further into the mountains, “so they took care of the urban interface before they actually attacked the building to, you know, confine the fire to the property.”
Several agencies, including Provo Fire & Rescue and Forestry, Fire & State Lands, were called in to assist emergency responders.
By 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the firefighters had the fire under control. The recent rain also helped to extinguish the flames.
No one was in the house at the time of the fire; no injuries were reported. Marcella said damage is estimated at about $2 million. The cause is currently under investigation.
