Hoya Vision Care has partnered with medical technology company Oculera to provide a virtual reality (VR) perimeter to ophthalmologists in the UK and Ireland.
The Oculera Visual Field Analyzer can be used to detect and diagnose early glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, scotomas or brain abnormalities, the companies said.
Hoya customers will have access to the technology from September 1st. Martin Batho, Managing Director of Hoya Lens UK, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with Oculera to offer this incredible technology to our independent customers at an affordable price.”

The headset is designed to be comfortable for patients and easy to use. It is portable. VR technology allows both eyes to be examined simultaneously, eliminating the need for eye patches and the need for a darkened room.
Mert Keleş, CEO of Oculera Health, described the Oculera Visual Field Analyser as the “first and only” CE-certified Class II(a) medical device available in the UK, a virtual reality perimeter registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
“We are delighted to be working with Hoya and their independent customers to revolutionize perimetry testing in the UK and Ireland,” said Keleş.
The company will support Hoya customers together with its exclusive UK and Ireland distribution partner, Birmingham Optical.
