Ryan Reynolds ready to star in Channing Tatum’s Gambit film: “I’m in”

Channing Tatum’s cameo appearance Deadpool and Wolverine has rekindled the hopes of millions of Marvel fans for a standalone Gambit film. Years ago, Tatum was hired by 20th Century Fox to play Gambit in a standalone film. However, the film never came to fruition.

Tatum recently received praise for his comedic role as Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine – a film with numerous cameos and Easter eggs. There were appearances by actors such as Chris Evans as the Human Torch, Dafne Keen’s X-23 and Channing Tatum’s Gambit was a highlight in the MCU adventure. Tatum’s Gambit in particular stood out from the other multiversal cameos of Deadpool and Wolverine, stealing the show with his comic-accurate costume and hilarious accent.

In an Instagram story recently shared on his profile, Ryan Reynolds praised Deadpool and Wolverine Actor Channing Tatum and shared his excitement at the prospect of a Gambit movie. Reynolds said he’s willing to work with Tatum on Gambit in any way, whether it involves playing Deadpool or not. Read Ryan Reynolds’ full IG story below:

“It’s impossible not to love and cheer for @channingtatum. If he makes a Gambit movie, I will return the favor. If he needs someone to carry sandbags, I’m in. If he needs a Deadpool, I can do that. Someone to deliver fresh orange slices to the crew, no problem. Say it.”

Channing Tatum’s Gambit film seemed all but lost after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and the end of Fox’s X-Men film series. However, the critical and box office success of Deadpool & Wolverine has rekindled hopes of a revival of some of the characters.

Deadpool and Wolverine proves that the legacy of Fox’s X-Men franchise still offers potential for new stories within the MCU. Channing Tatum’s Gambit film took shape in 2014, went through development hell for about five years, and was then canceled in 2019.
