Northern Oklahoma College and Central Tech Truck Driving Training have entered into an agreement that allows students enrolled in the truck driver training program in Enid to live in the NOC Enid student housing.

Both NOC President Diana Watkins and Truck Driver Training Director John Thorpe praised the new agreement, which was approved by the NOC Board of Directors this summer.

“We are fortunate that NOC has such a great working relationship with our regional technology centers,” Watkins said. “This partnership is a win-win situation that allows NOC Enid to fill some campus apartments that would otherwise go unused, while also increasing opportunities for people in the western part of the state to get their CDL certification from Central Tech.”

Thorpe added, “Our partnership with Autry Technology Center and Northern Oklahoma College in Enid is a game changer for our truck driver training program. By providing housing through the NOC, we are removing barriers and creating more opportunities for students to earn their CDL certification.”

“This collaboration not only enhances the learning experience, but also ensures that our graduates are well prepared and in high demand in the transportation industry,” he said. “Together, we are paving the way for a better future for our students and the communities we serve.”

Driver Education Program students who choose to stay in NOC accommodation will be housed in the Elliot Goulter Residence Hall.

Central Tech Truck Driver Training offers a variety of training options including ELDT Class A CDL, ELDT Class B CDL, school bus and hazmat training. The Class A CDL program includes 28 days of training and offers students the choice of manual or automatic transmission. The 11-day Class B CDL course includes 80 hours, including an 8-hour online hazmat option.

Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, state-supported educational institution providing high-quality, accessible and affordable educational opportunities and services.

NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through its home campus in Tonkawa, its branch campus in Enid, and the NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater. Of these students, approximately 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students graduate debt-free.

The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: arts, sciences, and applied science; the Accrediting Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accrediting Commission for Education and Nursing.
