Will Adam Sandler play Homer in the live-action film “The Simpsons”?

There are currently rumors that Adam Sandler would play Homer Simpson in a live-action Simpsons movie.

While a live-action adaptation of The Simpsons remains unlikely, the possibility of a return as an animated film cannot be completely ruled out. According to co-showrunner Matt Selman, developing a full-fledged film is a major challenge for the creators.

Speaking to Comic Book, he explained, “The stress of writing and animating a movie that gives moviegoers a hilarious and moving experience that isn’t boring or confusing is much greater than a TV show that you watch at home while checking Instagram. But movies aren’t as much work as just three episodes. They’re about as much work as 30 episodes… But a new ‘Simpsons’ movie would be amazing. We just need the right idea and a billion hours to make it great.”

Due to its continued popularity, the series has been renewed by Hulu for a 36th season and is scheduled to air in 2025. All seasons of The Simpsons are now streamed on Disney Plus and Hulu.
