A Delaware Phish fan wants to see them at Mondegreen for the 184th time
Have you seen more Phish concerts than this man from Delaware? He’s seen the band play at least eight times every day of the week.
Local residents may want to hit the brakes this week, as the Phish Mondegreen Festival is expected to draw over 45,000 fans to Dover from Thursday, August 15 to Sunday, August 18.
Charles “CR” McLeod, DelDOT’s director of public information, told us their “traffic control plan is very similar to the one used during Firefly” since Mondegreen will be held at the same venue as Firefly: The Woodlands of Dover Motor Speedway.
Dover Police made several Facebook posts announcing that residents should expect more than 45,000 festival-goers. Dover Police also advised residents to use alternative routes during the festival.
McLeod shared with Delaware Online/The News Journal the DelDOT traffic plan, which includes the streets that will be closed for Mondegreen.
Which streets in Dover will be closed for the Phish Mondegreen Festival?
Starting Thursday afternoon, Leipsic Road and Persimmon Tree Lane will be closed. Leipsic Road will be “hard closed” between Plaza Drive and Marley Lane, with “soft closures” on US 13. This will allow access to Home Depot, Pugh’s Auto Service and Comfort Inn & Suites and will also allow festival-goers to check in at Lot 1. The other soft closure will be Lewis Drive.
Persimmon Tree Lane will have a hard closure at Persimmon Circle to allow access for residents. There will be a soft closure on Route 9. Roads will reopen at 2 a.m. on Monday, August 19.

How bad will traffic be in Dover during the Phish Mondegreen Festival?
Gary Camp, vice president of marketing and communications for Dover Motor Speedway, said he expects “traffic volume on the roads and impacts after the campers arrive will be minimal.”
This means that traffic should be more manageable from Friday 16 August, the day after the festival begins and revellers are settled in. Dover residents can expect increased traffic after the festival ends on Sunday evening. There may also be some traffic on Monday as campers do not have to leave the site until midday.
When do the campsites open at the Phish Mondegreen Festival?
Bonus Track, Glen Close and The Full Monde campsites will open a day early, at 8am on Wednesday 14 August. General admission campsites will open at 8am on Thursday 15 August.

What are the festival times for the Phish Mondegreen Festival?
The festival begins on Thursday, August 15th at 12:00pm. The concert hall will open 90 minutes before the first scheduled time each day. Right now, this means the concert hall will open at 5:00pm from Thursday, August 15th through Sunday, August 18th (since Phish plays at 6:30pm each night).
The Foundation Lounge opens daily at 3:30 p.m. and closes one hour after the music ends each evening.
Who is Phish?
Founded in Vermont in 1983, Phish is a jam band with a huge and die-hard fan base that enjoys accompanying the band on tours, including out-of-country performances.
Phish is named after co-founder and drummer Jon Fishman. The group consists of Trey Anastasio (vocals/guitar), Mike Gordon (bass), Page McConnell (keyboard) and Fishman (drums).
The jam band played its first concert at Madison Square Garden in 1994 and has regularly played multi-day shows at MSG since then, usually around New Year’s Eve. Phish’s last MSG show will be New Year’s Eve 2023, the band’s 83rd concert at the legendary venue.
