Transatlantic flight returns after fake bomb threat made by telephone

Baron, known as one of the owners of the freak fighting federation Fame MMA, was released after testifying to authorities. His phone was seized by police for further analysis and he was officially recognized as a victim in the case. This incident follows a similar spoofing attack earlier this year involving another Polish public figure, Krzysztof Stanowski.

The case has attracted a lot of attention not only because of the prominent people involved in the case, but also because of the severity of the false alarm. The Polish prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation, with a focus on identifying the people responsible for the spoofing attack. So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the case, and authorities are considering several charges under the Polish Criminal Code, which provides for severe penalties for causing public unrest through false reports.

Phone spoofing vs. GPS spoofing

Although we don’t know much about phone spoofing, we can talk about another type of spoofing! Phone spoofing is not a dissimilar problem to GPS spoofing, an increasingly common problem in aviation. GPS spoofing involves sending a signal that GPS receivers decode, placing an aircraft at an incorrect location and/or time. GPS spoofing is a 100% intentional act. Spoofing can only be caused by purpose-built devices that originate in military operations or are built by individuals with nefarious intentions.
