“You” star Lukas Gage lands next leading role

You Star Lukas Gage has been cast in the upcoming comedy thriller Full throttle mindset alongside Josh Duhamel.

The film, directed by Patrick Brice, is inspired by a wild true story that was first told in St. Louis Riverfront Times by journalist Doyle Murphy.

Inspired by Murphy’s article, Full throttle mindset follows burned-out Blake Laubinger (Gage) as he goes to work for Midwestern tanning salon mogul Todd Beckman (Duhamel). Blake soon learns that his new mentor’s business is a front for a drug empire and that he is now expected to contribute (via Deadline).

The screenplay for the film was written by Jake Disch and filming is scheduled to begin later this year.

Gage will next be seen in the sequel to the 2022 horror film Smilewith the fate of his character revealed in the trailer. With similar praise as in the first film, Smile 2 follows a new protagonist, pop star Skye Riley, as she becomes infected with the curse of the smile.

In the first trailer, which came out last month ahead of the October release, Skye is cursed after Gage’s character Lewis shows up at her house and kills himself by placing a weight under her eyes.

Gage is known for his roles in euphoria, The White Lotus Season 1 and Fargo Season 5. Recently part of the 1989 remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal Street HouseThe actor will also be seen in the upcoming science fiction thriller companion by screenwriter and director Drew Hancock.

The film is scheduled to be released in the US in January 2025. The film also stars Sophie Thatcher (Yellow Jackets), Jack Quaid (The young), Megan Suri (I have never), Harvey Guillén (What we do in the shadows) and Rupert Friend (Obi Wan Kenobi).

Full throttle mindset has no release date yet.
