Developer Pandora Media Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming title Pandora’s Seed: The Legend of the Gaia Tree. The game is a turn-based RPG with 2D graphics, with classic JRPGs of the 90s and the novel The Chrysalids cited as inspirations.
Pandora’s Seed: The Legend of the Gaia Tree is set in the Kingdom of Garda, home of the great Gaia Tree, whose magical seeds once sparked a conflict after the Gaia Sect was accused of abusing the tree’s power. Over a century after the defeat of the Gaia Sect, peace has returned and Bastian, a young man with premonitions, embarks on an adventure that reveals many secrets surrounding the Gaia Tree. The game does not feature random encounters, so players can avoid battles with enemies they encounter on the map as long as they do not touch them. The turn-based combat system is reminiscent of the earlier Final Fantasy Title.
Pandora’s Seed: The Legend of the Gaia Tree is being developed for PC. The Kickstarter campaign aims to raise CA$6,800 (approx. US$5,000) and runs until August 31, 2024. Anyone who donates at least CA$16 (approx. US$12) will receive a digital copy of the game. A demo version of the title is currently available on Steam and Itch.io.
