Truck Camper Magazine introduces nuCamp technology – RVBusiness

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is an excerpt from an article by Gordon White for Truck Camper Magazine.

nuCamp RV has taken their technology to the next level and brought fully automated lamination in-house. nuCamp now has the most advanced technology we have ever seen in an RV factory. The impact is nothing short of a game changer.

Last June, we visited nuCamp RV’s headquarters in Sugarcreek, Ohio. This was our sixth visit to the company since it launched the Cirrus line of RVs in 2015. During each of those visits, we saw improvements and advancements in the factory and manufacturing, but nothing compared to what we saw this year.

When we first entered the Cirrus production line in 2015, they sourced their exterior wall laminations from an outside vendor. This was fantastic for efficiency as the RV walls were delivered to nuCamp ready to use. After the windows and decals were installed, the walls were sent to the production line and attached to units.

The downsides to this approach are cost and control. An outside vendor charges a premium for profitability and has control over production scheduling and quality. Almost every RV company that works with outside vendors would prefer to handle production in-house, especially during times of economic ups and downs.

It should come as no surprise that nuCamp now manufactures its own exterior wall laminations. And they didn’t just buy the ubiquitous hot melt applicator and nip roller laminator. nuCamp has invested millions in state-of-the-art Morbidelli machining centers, a CR Onsrud CNC machine, NORD motorized drive systems from Edge Automation, and more. We’re talking about a major technological shift at nuCamp, and it was evident throughout the factory.
