TAMPA, FL — A clubgoer is accused of driving a semi-trailer into the front of a gentlemen’s club on East Adamo Drive on Tuesday, killing one man and injuring two others, Tampa police said.

Officers arrived at the scene of the accident at around 4:15 a.m. Police said the driver, who had been thrown out of the club, returned to the club’s parking lot and drove the truck into a group of people standing at the club’s entrance.

The man who died in the accident has not been identified. The two injured men are expected to survive their injuries, police said.

“This is an incredibly tragic and completely preventable incident,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a press release. “We will work to bring justice to the victims and their families. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, including the innocent bystanders who witnessed this horrific ordeal.”

The driver, who police said was hospitalized in critical but stable condition, was taken into police custody. Possible charges are unknown and police did not identify the driver.
