Gearbox boss arouses curiosity after the catastrophic box office flop of “Borderlands 4”

The Borderlands movie was officially a flop at the box office, and Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has made up for it in the best way possible with another teaser for a fourth major game.

In a brief post on social media platform X, Pitchford mentioned that his team is working extra hard to get “four” fans involved in what comes next, leaving aside the disaster of the live-action film starring Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. Here’s what he had to say:

“So what you’re saying is, you like what my friends and I are doing with our Borderlands video games even better than what some of the biggest and best actors and crew of filmmakers in the world have done. I’m incredibly flattered! We’re working extra hard for you on what’s next…”

And it’s not the first time there’s been a teaser for Borderlands 4. Back in March of this year, when Gearbox Entertainment was acquired, it was mentioned that the “next installment” in the series was on the way. Pitchford also recently told GamesRadar that Gearbox won’t keep fans waiting long before the title is officially announced.

The Borderlands film was made with a budget of around 145 million US dollars and recovered just above 16 million US dollars on its opening weekend. Early critic reviews last week suggested it could potentially be the “worst” film of 2024.
