This New York bride baked her own 8.5-meter-long wedding cake

Most brides spend the morning of their wedding day stoically in a hair and makeup chair rehearsing their vows, but Stephanie Nass is different than most brides. As a chef and founder of culinary lifestyle brand Chefanie, Stephanie gave her wedding day the same attention she gives all of her events, with such a dedicated approach that, according to the bride, she “even got up early the morning of the wedding to bake cookies and prep the food!”

On June 2, 2024, Stephanie married David Ulevitch, general partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, in a wedding in the backyard of her parents’ home in Westchester, New York. Featuring a custom toile fabric with personal illustrations of people and places meaningful to the couple, custom embroidered linens, and hand-painted dinner menus – all in a summery, colorful, outdoor aesthetic – wedding guests were surprised to learn the couple had just 10 weeks to plan their big day. The couple got engaged in March while skiing in Montana, and the wedding came less than a year after Stephanie and David met, because as the saying goes, when you know, you know. There was no reason to waste a moment before they exchanged vows.

Stephanie, the author of the upcoming cookbook, Stop by!, published by Rizzoli, also happened to be preparing a meal when she first met David at a party in Easthampton on July 14, 2023. “I had just come from another dinner, but I was hungry for this second one,” Stephanie explains. “However, when I arrived, there was nothing to eat. There were some ingredients in the kitchen, and I started grilling them. At the grill, I met David. We started a conversation that lasted for hours that night – and continues every day.”

“I was about to leave when a beautiful woman walked in, obviously dressed for a fancier evening party,” David added. “A few months later, we happened to run into another person who had been at the party. She was shocked that we had met that night; she thought we had been together for years. That’s how it felt and that’s how it has felt every day since.”
