The original X-Men star would have returned for Deadpool and Wolverine

The Marvel Studios film Deadpool and Wolverine features several major character appearances from previous Marvel films, but there was limited space to include many. Some fan favorites were missing from the film, such as Halle Berry’s Storm from the X-Men Movies.



During a conversation with ComicBook.com to promote the Netflix title The UnionBerry was asked directly about a possible return as Storm in Deadpool and Wolverine. She revealed that she had actually been approached by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds’ real-life wife who voiced Lady Deadpool in the film, about her interest in participating in the project. Although Berry confirmed that she would be willing to do so if an actual offer came her way, that call from Reynolds never came, leaving Storm in the lurch.

When asked if there had ever been formal discussions about appearing in the film, Berry replied: “No. Blake (Lively) asked me once, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, ‘Would you ever play Storm in my husband’s film?’ I said, “Yes, if he asked me,” but he never asked me.

I said, “Yes, if he asked me,” but he never asked me.

Before the film’s release, Berrys Storm was among the characters reportedly appearing in Deadpool and Wolverinebut that didn’t work. She is not alone, because other main characters from the X-Men Movies were also not considered. Director Shawn Levy recently confirmed that Patrick Stewart was never intended to appear as Professor X in the film. There were some key X-Men However, villains did appear, such as Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth and Aaron Stanford’s Pyro.

In addition to her role as Storm, Berry is also known for her portrayal of the title character in DC’s Catwoman film. In 2022, she also commented that she would love to play this role again just as much as she did Storm if she had the chance to reprise either role.

“I would actually play any of them again,” Berry told ComicBook.com of her past roles. “I loved all of those characters and I was always grateful to be able to play them and be a part of those great franchises, you know? So I would play any of them again.”


Deadpool and Wolverine is in theaters now. Berry’s Storm may not be in it, but the film brings back Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Wesley Snipes as Blade, and introduces Channing Tatum for the first time as Gambit.
