Maya Rudolph says her phone ‘didn’t stop blowing up’ during Kamala Harris’ presidential bid

“I’ve received so many GIFs that made me laugh.”

It will be a busy election campaign for Maya Rudolph.

The actress and comedian revealed that her phone “didn’t stop blowing up” during Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. “It was wild!” Rudolph, who famously supported Harris several times in Saturday Night Livetold diversity in a new interview.

“In addition to my excitement, I received so many GIFs that made me laugh: LeBron (James) waiting to get into the game, Roman Roy watching his emails roll in,” she added.

Rudolph made his debut as Harris in ‘SNL’s season 45 premiered in September 2019, and returned to 30 Rock to play the future Vice President as she ran for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential primaries. The following year, she won an Emmy for Guest Actress for her performance.

Harris, for her part, is a fan of Rudolph’s imitations. “I am Saturday Night Live”, she told Seth Meyers in 2019. “The thought that anyone would portray me in any way on Saturday Night Live was just – I was a little overwhelmed.” She joked, “I’m telling you, I fully intend to make sure she gets to work at SNL for eight good years.”

When President Joe Biden announced in July that he would not seek re-election and endorsed Harris in the 2024 presidential race against Donald Trump, Rudolph quickly began trending online as fans expressed their excitement about her inevitable return to the NBC sketch comedy. Fans have also lobbied for Steve Martin to play Harris’ vice presidential running mate Tim Walz.

Rudolph was a SNL She was a member of the cast between 2000 and 2007 and has returned as host three times since leaving, including for this year’s Mother’s Day episode. She received two Emmy nominations at the ceremony, which is set to take place later this year for the episode, including a nomination for original music and lyrics of her viral musical monologue “I’m Your Mother.”

“I think my reaction was, ‘Holy shit!'” Rudolph said diversity her Emmy nominations, including recognition for her work on prey And Big mouth. “And all of this for things that are so close to my heart.
