Carrie Underwood worships at local church in Nashville

Since her breakthrough with the song “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” Carrie Underwood has spoken openly about how her faith is an essential part of her personality.

On Sunday (August 11), Underwood led a time of worship music and joined the worship team at Rolling Hills Community Church, a local church in Franklin, Tennessee. Underwood and the worship team performed “The Goodness of God” by contemporary Christian worship group Bethel Worship. The song, featuring Jenn Johnson, peaked at number 15 on Billboard‘s Hot Christian Songs chart in 2020.

The passionate hymn includes the lyrics, “From the moment I wake up until I lay my head down/ Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God/ All my life you have been faithful/ And all my life you have been so, so good.”

Of course, Underwood has also recorded songs about faith throughout her career, including “Temporary Home” and the Grammy-winning 2014 song “Something in the Water.” In 2021, she released My Savioran album of classic gospel hymns. The project included artists such as CeCe Winans with “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”.

“It’s been a true blessing to make music like this, inspirational music that is very close to my heart,” Underwood said in a statement about the album at the time. The album landed at number one on the Billboard charts “Top Country Albums” and “Top Christian Albums.”

In the course of her career, Underwood also appeared in Michael W. Smith’s 2014 The spirit of Christmas album, on the song “All Is Well,” and included the original song “Sweet Baby Jesus” on her 2020 Christmas album My gift. She also contributed harmony vocals to the song “Something Greater” on the album by CCM singer-songwriter Matthew West Everything included.
