Indiana Sheriff: Truck driver shot dead after chasing motorist home following incident of driving aggression

Police are investigating a shooting incident that left a tractor-trailer driver dead in Grant County, Indiana.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) announced Monday morning that an alleged incident of road rage was reported on I-69 involving a passenger car and a semi-truck. The passenger car exited the highway and the semi-truck driver allegedly followed.

“What we know now is that one of our residents took the State Road 26 exit and was followed by a semi-truck. The issue was between their two vehicles. Our resident was, I believe, on his way home from a fishing trip, and from what I understand, he was with his family. And the semi-truck followed him from the exit to his house,” said Grant County Sheriff Del Garcia.

“A verbal altercation ensued and from what we understand, our resident was threatened with a laser device that he believed to be a weapon. He fired at the semi-trailer, striking the driver. The driver’s semi-trailer drove through some corn fields and eventually caught fire,” the GCSO said.

Police confirmed that the truck driver was killed.

The incident is currently under investigation and the story is becoming more current.
