CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) — Two homeless men were arrested Sunday evening in connection with the rape of a woman at knifepoint near the Coney Island boardwalk.

The men forced the woman to the ground with a knife at her throat at around 9 p.m. at the corner of Surf Avenue and West 16th Street.

The victim was with her boyfriend who left to get coffee. When he returned, he found her assaulted.

One man raped the woman and the second fought off a 34-year-old man who tried to intervene.

The 46-year-old woman was treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health.

David Davon-Bonilla, 24, comes from Nicaragua. He is accused of rape, assault, sexual abuse, threats and illegal possession of weapons.

Leovando Moreno, 37, is from Mexico and has been charged with assault and illegal possession of weapons. He is currently undergoing psychological evaluation in hospital.

The 34-year-old man who tried to help was uninjured.
