August 12, 2024 – The City of Savannah’s flood model estimates indicate that areas inundated by the Ogeechee River likely peaked as of yesterday and that waters will begin to recede. If you live in a flood-affected area, please be aware that these impacts will continue for the coming days and it may take several days for water levels to fully recede.
Residents are urged not to travel on closed roads as flood waters may not have caused immediately visible damage to roads. The City will review the condition of roads as waters recede to ensure safety.
Individuals in the affected areas who need assistance can call 311 to be connected to resources and receive information. The city is providing resources for assistance, including access to basic supplies such as food and evacuation assistance if needed. Water barriers and some supplies, including food, have been set up in remote communities at the Bradley Point South Clubhouse and in Teal Lake at 7 Litchfield Drive for those who need them.
The City will continue emergency response efforts as long as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and will continue to coordinate closely with the County to manage this unprecedented flood event.
