Tom Cruise parachutes towards LA 2028 at the handover ceremony for the Olympic Games in Paris

Tom Cruise kicked off his journey to Los Angeles 2028 in epic movie star style on Sunday, jumping off the stage in Paris before the broadcast cut to a pre-recorded clip of his skydiving over Hollywood.

In the clip, which aired during the Paris 2024 closing ceremony, Cruise jumped into the French stadium before walking through a crowd of fans and accepting the official Olympic flag from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Simone Biles.

He then left the event on a motorcycle with a flag flying behind him.

From there pre-recorded segment shows Cruise riding a motorcycle through Paris, boarding a plane near the Eiffel Tower and parachuting into the hills behind the Hollywood sign, where he decorates the two Os in “Hollywood” with the Olympic rings.

Cruise then handed the flag to several Los Angeles Olympians, who led a group of fans to the Will Rogers Beach Celebration, which featured performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg.

Although the skydive was recorded, the jump into the stadium and the motorcycle jump were performed live. Cruise posted the stunt on social media, where he shared a selfie of himself from the roof of the stadium and wrote: “Thanks Paris! Now it’s off to LA.”

Cruise is a familiar face at the Paris Olympics – photographers have spotted him at several competitions over the past two weeks and he was present at the opening ceremony. He is currently filming Mission: Impossible 8and was spotted filming another epic skydiving stunt for the movie a few weeks ago.
