The Olympic Games always promise breathtaking drama and impressive action. And the Games in Paris were no exception: countless records were broken and athletes both new and old added their names to the pantheon of sporting greats.
After a great start, Team GB continued its pursuit of glory in all disciplines, ultimately winning 56 medals, including 14 gold.
Keely Hodgkinson became only the tenth British woman to win gold in athletics at an Olympic Games, while cyclist Emma Finucane secured her third medal of the Games on the final day, making it the first time a British woman has achieved the feat in half a century.
