NYC Civil Service Exam: These applications are possible in August

The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) has released its application schedule for the August civil service exams.

Open, competitive, computer-based tests are conducted every month for various positions. If you meet the basic requirements of the position, you can register for your exam online at the Online Application System (OASys) or at one of the Computer-Based Testing and Application Centers (CTAC).

The application period for this month began on August 7 for the following positions: Architect, Assistant Civil Engineer, Civil Engineering Intern, Correctional Officer, Police Administrative Assistant, Special Officer, Special Officer (NYC H+H), and Traffic Enforcement Officer.

Most exams have a deadline of August 27th.

The application deadline for correctional officers is September 27th and for traffic enforcement officers it is October 11th.

In addition, applications for the position of call center agent are possible until August 27th and applications for the position of environmental police officer are possible until August 30th. Applications for the position of police officer are possible until September 25th.

New York City employs hundreds of thousands of people in its 80 agencies. To enter the hiring process for most of these positions, you must pass a test. Application fees range from $40 to $101.

After an exam is conducted, it typically takes nine to twelve months for agencies to have a list of graduates ready to hire, according to DCAS.
