Hugh Jackman got himself into trouble during his Christmas visit to the Rockefeller tree

Hugh Jackman has hilariously revealed how he “got into trouble” while trying to look at the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center on Christmas Day.

The 55-year-old actor shared some footage of his visit to the iconic tree on Christmas morning on Instagram. Alongside two photos of the illuminated tree, the post included a selfie of Jackson in front of the landmark. The greatest showman The star shared a clip of himself walking towards the tree and filming it with his phone before stopping and posing in front of it with a big smile on his face.

In the caption, he encouraged his followers to visit the New York tourist attraction early in the morning, as it is not as busy as usual. “I highly recommend getting up very early on Christmas morning and taking a walk to the Rockefeller Christmas tree,” Jackman wrote. “It is so beautiful and not crowded at all.”

He then revealed how and why he was reprimanded during his visit, adding: “I got in trouble for crossing the barrier, but the security guard was nice and let me go with a warning.”

Jackman’s post quickly went viral, with fans making jokes about the security guard in the comments. They also made fun of the fact that people in Jackman’s video didn’t seem to notice him at Rockefeller Center.

“Yeah, as if the security guard would stop Wolverine. Merry Christmas!” wrote one, referring to the actor’s iconic character in “The Wolverine.”

“People around us don’t realise they’re near THAT Hugh Jackman,” one added, while another joked: “I love the guy on the side who’s probably thinking, ‘He looks a lot like Hugh Jackman.'”

Ahead of the holiday, Jackman posted another photo of himself posing next to a Christmas tree inside a house with the caption: “Merry Christmas Eve!”

Jackman’s visit to the tree at Rockefeller Center comes months after he made headlines when he and his wife of nearly thirty years, Deborra-Lee Furness, announced their separation.

“We have been fortunate to spend nearly three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey is now changing and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the former couple, who have two children – Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18 – said in a statement to People in September.

“Our family has been and will always be our highest priority. We begin this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness,” they continued. “We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

They then signed the statement “Deb and Hugh Jackman” and concluded: “This is the only statement either of us will make.”

Although he kept the split out of the spotlight, Jackamn spoke about some of his feelings during the breakup in September. At the time TMZ Photographers caught the Australian actor speaking out about the split in a few short sentences. He said: “It’s a difficult time. I appreciate your thoughts, man, thank you.”

However, the former couple continued to get along well. Page Six reported in October that Jackman celebrated his 55th birthday with Furness. At the celebration, the two were seen at the Polo Bar in Manhattan, New York, and a source claimed to the publication that they had a “very happy time.”

A spokesman for Jackman later confirmed that he celebrated his birthday with his ex, saying: “Yes, it’s true. It was a lovely evening.”
