FHP arrests two Cape Coral men after incident of road rage involving firearms

Two men were arrested on Saturday following an incident of road rage.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a violent incident occurred on the highway shortly before 10:00 a.m. near mile marker 133 on I-75 involving a GMC pickup truck, driven by 44-year-old Jacob Adam Poleski of Cape Coral, and a sedan with two children (ages 16 and 5) in the back seat, driven by 39-year-old Jeremy Jovan Collier of Cape Coral.

According to FHP, Poleski told them he became angry when the sedan cut off his pickup truck while he was driving on Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers. In response, Poleski threw a metal cup of coffee into an open rear window of the sedan. And, according to Collier, he displayed a firearm through an open window. Collier began chasing Poleski’s pickup truck as the incident escalated.

According to FHP, Poleski pulled into the Wawa gas station on Colonial Boulevard and entered the store. At that point, state troopers say, Collier got out of the sedan with a firearm to confront Poleski. Poleski got back in his car and drove south on I-75 while Collier continued to follow him.

During the investigation, officers discovered a Rugar LCP weapon, the mug in the limo, spilled coffee inside the limo, and on the skin and clothing of Collier’s children. They also discovered a Glock 9mm weapon with a laser attachment in Poleski’s pickup truck.

FHP has taken both Collier and Poleski into custody on the charges listed below.

Necklace:

  • Unauthorized display of a firearm
  • Serious bodily harm with a deadly weapon

Poles:

  • Unauthorized display of a firearm
  • Serious bodily harm with a deadly weapon
  • Battery –3 counts
