Israel launches multimillion-dollar initiative to recruit top global AI talent

The Israel Innovation Authority announced on Sunday the launch of a tender worth ILS 10 million (about $2.68 million) aimed at attracting foreign artificial intelligence (AI) experts to Israel. According to the authority, the move is intended to enhance the capabilities of Israeli high-tech companies by hiring highly qualified AI researchers with advanced degrees and extensive industry experience.

The Call For Proposals (CFP) is aimed at companies with a proven track record in managing foreign human capital and offers comprehensive support in integrating and onboarding international experts into the Israeli high-tech ecosystem.

In Israel, fewer than 700 students currently complete their master’s degrees in computer science, mathematics and statistics each year, and fewer than 100 graduates receive a doctorate each year.

The CFP is aimed at organizations with experience in managing foreign human resources, including assisting with the reception and acclimation of candidates and their families. This includes partnerships with entities and NGOs involved in the reception of olim, returning Israeli residents, immigrants with the right of naturalization under the Law of Return, and foreign experts. Candidates must hold an MA or PhD in relevant AI fields and have practical industry experience.

The CFP provides funding of 50 to 70 percent of the approved budget. The programs are approved for a duration of 24 months and include extensive support to ensure the successful integration of the experts into the Israeli high-tech industry.

“This initiative aims to strengthen human capital in Israel by bringing the best AI experts to local high-tech companies,” said Dror Bin, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority. “Bringing leading global AI experts is critical to maintaining Israel’s leadership in the field. The success of this pilot program will pave the way for similar initiatives in AI and other technologies. We believe that creating a supportive and progressive work environment will enable these experts to develop and lead innovative projects, contributing to the Israeli economy and Israel’s status as a global innovation and technology superpower.”
