Meaning behind Banksy’s graffiti revealed: “He is releasing his seventh work this week”

The heartwarming meaning behind Banksy’s new graffiti collection of London animals has been revealed.

Although there has been much speculation about his identity, world-famous artist Banksy has never confirmed his true identity, which has always added an extra level of fascination to his artwork.

He is responsible for numerous famous graffiti works in the UK and around the world, but was recently seen adding a collection of animals to buildings and walls in London – and the meaning behind it has finally been revealed.

The new series of works includes seven different animals in cleverly placed locations, which he revealed through a post on his Instagram – all without captions or context, which a lot the imagination of the British public.

The first animal he created was a goat standing on a narrow ledge on a wall.

As always, the artwork is brilliant to look at, as it is designed to make it look as if the goat is about to fall.

One person joked in the comments: “Banksy is officially the GOAT.”

Elephants in the window

His second work consisted of two elephants hanging from two windows with their trunks meeting in the middle.

One user said it was a brilliant depiction of walking past and ignoring the elephant in the room – but the true meaning of this Banksy is much simpler.

Monkeys on a bridge

The third motif was sprayed onto the underside of a bridge over which the subway runs and consists of three dangling monkeys.

Here, too, people quickly recognized a deeper meaning, with one admitting, “I only see animals.”

A wolf howls in the night sky

The fourth motif was on a satellite dish and looked like a fox or wolf in front of the moon.

Unfortunately, it didn’t last long before the Metropolitan Police were called because a satellite dish containing artwork was stolen in Peckham.

Pelicans at the fish bar

The fifth design was above a fish and chip shop called Bonners Fish Bar.

In a hilarious way, Banksy has transformed the French fry shop sign above the door into two fish-eating pelicans.

Someone remarked that the value of the fish and chip shop had increased by a million since the artwork appeared!

Cats and fish

The sixth image was a cat stretching on an old wooden advertising hoarding and the seventh and most recent image was a fish swimming around a police station right next to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Banksy had cleverly made the police emergency call box look like water, with blue fish swimming on either side.

And what is the meaning behind all this?

Pest Control Office, Banksy’s support organisation, pointed out that recent discussions about theories on deeper meanings had been far too detailed.

Instead, the animals were simply created in the hope of highlighting humans’ ability to play rather than destroy.

And this may be the case in light of the recent unrest in Britain.

Let’s hope that Banksy’s works spread a little joy in these dark days!
