Bengaluru cafe employee arrested for hiding his phone in a ladies’ toilet dustbin to record videos | Indiablooms

An employee of a famous cafe in Bengaluru was arrested for allegedly hiding a mobile phone in the dustbin of the ladies’ restroom and leaving it on airplane mode to record videos, media reports said.

The accused is in his early twenties and hails from Bhadravati in Karnataka.

The incident came to light when a woman found the mobile phone in the toilet of the Third Wave Coffee branch on BEL Road on Friday morning.

Instagram user “Gangs Of Cinepur” with over 90,000 followers told the story and reported what happened at the outlet.

“I was at a Third Wave Coffee branch in Bengaluru this (Friday) morning when a woman found a phone hidden in the trash can in the washroom. The video recording had been on for about two hours and pointed at the toilet seat,” the Instagram story said.

The story went on to say that the phone was in airplane mode “so it doesn’t make any noise.”

“It was carefully hidden in the garbage bag, in which a hole was made so that only the camera is visible,” it continued.

“This was so horrible to watch. I will be vigilant in every restroom I use from now on, no matter how well known the cafe or restaurant chain is. I ask all of you to do the same. This is disgusting,” the story said.

In response to the incident, Third Wave Coffee stated that they regret “this unfortunate incident.”

“We would like to stress that such actions are absolutely unacceptable at Third Wave Coffee. We reacted quickly by immediately dismissing the individual and ensuring the safety of our customers,” the popular coffee chain, which has branches across India, said in its response.
