Majeski wins regular season finale

Majeski, who was sent back at the start of the race due to a penalty for uncontrolled tire control, fought his way back to the front and overtook leader William Sawalich on the restart with 20 of 250 laps remaining.

Another caution bunched the field together and allowed a restart with eight laps to go, but as the field raced three and four lanes behind him, Majeski was able to take the lead.

He won by 0.926 seconds over Christian Eckes, who had previously secured the regular season championship in the race, to take his second victory of the 2024 season and the fifth of his career.

“It feels good. We’ve had a great ThorSport truck here at Richmond the last two years. We’ve found different ways to outrun them and we tried again tonight,” Majeski said. “Another mistake, we really need to get that stuff in order before the playoffs.”

“Duke and Rhoda Thorson gave me a great opportunity two years ago and I had the time of my life racing for this team. We will try to bring home another trophy.”

Taylor Gray finished third, Grant Enfinger fourth and Layne Riggs fifth.

The race on Saturday evening determined the playoff field of ten drivers.

In addition to Majeski, Eckes, Corey Heim, Nick Sanchez and Rajah Caruth are in the field based on their wins. Tyler Ankrum, Enfinger, Taylor Gray, reigning series champion Ben Rhodes and Daniel Dye are in the field based on their points.

Tanner Gray was the first driver to miss the field, finishing 12 points behind Dye. The first playoff race will be held on August 25 at the Milwaukee Mile.

Eckes took the lead on a late restart and prevailed by 0.435 seconds over Taylor Gray to take the Stage 1 win. Enfinger was third, Rhodes fourth and Riggs completed the top five.

Level 2

Enfinger took the lead on a restart with six laps to go and beat Eckes by 0.305 seconds to win Stage 2. Dye was third, Riggs fourth and Heim was fifth.

On Lap 128, Matt Crafton – who needed a win to make the playoffs – spun out of Turn 4 and hit the inside retaining wall.

Level 3

After the break between Stages 2 and 3, only a handful of the trucks on the lead lap opted to pit, and Enfinger remained in the lead when the race restarted with 101 laps to go.

Shortly after the restart, a multi-truck accident occurred on the backstretch, resulting in several drivers retiring, including Thad Moffitt, Keith McGee and Dean Thompson.

When the incident with the seven trucks was finally resolved and the race could continue, Alan Lawless spun and had to put the race under yellow for the sixth time.

Enfinger continued to lead Rhodes and Eckes when racing resumed with 73 laps to go. Connor Jones then stalled on the track on lap 182, triggering another caution.

With 29 laps to go, Heim overtook Enfinger and took the lead for the first time in the race, but the race was put on hold under yellow due to a spin by Kaden Honeycutt.

Most of the leading trucks opted to get new tires, with Sawalich being the first to leave pit road as he only took tires on the right side. He led 20 laps at the restart over Enfinger – who took four tires

Majeski quickly took the lead at the restart, while Sawalich was overtaken by several trucks with four new tires.

A spin by Connor Zilisch led to a caution and required another restart with eight laps to go, with Majeski ahead of Enfinger, Riggs and Eckes.
