Fast-spreading wildfire near Tiller triggers Level 3 – Get started now!

A rapidly spreading wildfire near Tiller has resulted in Level 3 (LEAVE IMMEDIATELY) evacuation orders by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The Tiller Trail Fire is raging near the 28000 block of Tiller Trail Highway. Stage 3 orders are in effect for all residents on Crume Ranch Lane and all homes on Devil’s Knob Road in the Tiller and Drew area.

In a Facebook post, Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office told residents that the Level 3 warning “means there is significant danger in your area and you are advised to evacuate your home immediately.”

He noted that evacuations have been underway since 3:56 p.m. Lt. O’Dell said the fire was described as a “fast-moving fire,” according to firefighters on the scene.

According to the Douglas Forest Protective Association’s latest update as of Saturday at 6 p.m., the fire’s area is between 400 and 600 hectares.

Evacuation maps show Level 1 – BE READY! – Advisories apply to areas north of the current fire area.

The Trail Highway, Highway 227, is closed from mile 45 west of Tiller.

The DFPA reported that single-engine firefighting aircraft and crews from the DFPA, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Umpqua National Forest, Tiller Fire, Days Creek Fire Department, Milo Fire Department, South Umpqua Fire Department, Riddle Fire Department, Myrtle Creek Fire, Tri-City Fire, Central Douglas Fire, North Douglas Fire and Sutherlin Fire responded.

The latest evacuation information is available on the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

According to the Watch Duty app, the fire was first reported at 2:43 p.m.
