Fox News Digital spoke with residents of Detroit, Michigan, about the political pulse in the city as Election Day approaches in the crucial swing state.

“It had to be Trump for the whole city,” Keandre, a resident of Detroit’s east side, told Fox News Digital. “They all vote for Trump.”

A resident of St. Clair Shores in Macomb County said he believes support for former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is divided.

“People on both sides. “It’s getting close,” said Tom.

Two other Detroiters who spoke to Fox News Digital supported Harris.

“All my friends who are Trumpers only think about themselves and we have to think about the world,” Ron said.

“I really like Kamala Harris because she has a lot more compassion. “It’s not about you. It’s about everyone,” he continued.

“I think it’s time to make history,” Mandela said.

“I just think it will be a female president,” he added.

A new New York Times-Siena College poll found Harris had 48% support in Michigan and Trump had 47%.

Hillary Clinton narrowly lost Michigan to Trump in 2016, despite consistently leading the polls there. She became the first Democrat to lose the state since Michael Dukakis in 1988. Joe Biden won the state in 2020.

The Trump and Harris campaigns have prioritized blue wall states at campaign stops throughout the summer. Trump’s victory in 2016 was based on his surprise victories in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, all of which had long Democratic winning streaks up to that point. The winners of the last four elections have won the three states.

Michigan residents also weighed in on which presidential candidate they thought would be a stronger leader.

Mandela admitted he thought it was Trump, even though he supported Harris.

“I think Trump is (stronger) because I think Trump won’t let anyone overrun us,” he said.

When asked who was the stronger leader, Keandre said it was Harris.

“They will lean toward Trump because he was already president,” he predicted of other Detroiters.

“Not even a question. Donald J. Trump is the best leader we have to move this nation forward,” said Jeff, a Detroit native.

“We can all do better financially under Donald Trump. Kamala has no idea about financial policy in this country,” he said, then referred to rising food prices.

“In my mind, I think it’s Trump,” said Austin, a native of Romeo, Macomb County. “I think in my humble opinion he would be the stronger leader.”
