Paparazzi tried to make a deal to get bikini photos

Sydney Sweeney spoke out about the harassment she faces from the paparazzi, saying: “My actual safety is at risk” when photos of her are taken outside her home without consent.

In a new interview with Glamor magazine, Sweeney said photographers recently flooded her Florida home and yelled at her family, who were outside.

“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then leave you alone,'” Sweeney recalls. She then refuted speculation that she blamed herself on the paparazzi. “Why would I call the paparazzi to take photos of me in my own house when my little cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard?” Why would I ever want that? I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They arrived at 8am and didn’t leave until 4pm. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”

Sweeney clarified that the photographers themselves are not bothering her as much as when her location is revealed through her photos and her privacy is violated.

“If these photos go out, my actual safety is at risk,” Sweeney said. “Everyone knows where I am. Now boats go by and I literally hear them saying, ‘That’s Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”

Elsewhere in her Glamor cover story, Sweeney opened up about the constant (and often scary) discourse surrounding her body. On the bright side, Sweeney said many of the comments she receives from young fans relate to how she has helped them feel more confident about their bodies.

“This means a lot to me because I truly believe in empowering others, feeling empowered with your own body and embracing your sexuality,” Sweeney said. “And if you have breasts, great. Show them off.”
