Fantasy football managers who chose Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving at the start of the season saw their trust richly rewarded.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Irving’s “skills are hard to ignore, and opposing coaches plan the game for him as if he were the focal point of the offense.”

Irving is equally matched up with third-year speedster Rachaad White. In the 33-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday, both had 10 carries for 49 yards, but it was Irving who scored a touchdown.

White is expected to remain Tampa Bay’s starter, but Fowler noted that Irving’s skillset could ultimately surpass him.

“There’s a lot of talk about Irving in these circles. That usually says something,” Fowler explained. “Irving’s skilled running style and great potential will keep him in the lineup, and if Tampa Bay needs to win with the run, there will be plenty of carries.”
