Harry Maguire saved 10-man Manchester United from another embarrassing defeat as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Porto in the Europa League on Thursday. The best and worst of the Red Devils were on display, with Marcus Rashford showing his class and giving them a two-goal lead. However, nothing is ever easy for Ten Hag’s side and their defensive frailties were fully exposed as Porto fought back to the lead before Maguire’s late header.

United got off to the perfect start when Rashford’s quick move cut through two Porto players and beat Diogo Costa, who should have done better, just seven minutes later. The England international continued to poke around Porto’s defense and soon scored another goal. He played a perfectly weighted pass to Rasmus Hojlund to score, with Costa once again failing to cover himself in glory.

Despite the devastating blow, the Dragons were not entirely defeated and stunned their visitors when Andre Onana’s perfect save was denied by Brazilian striker Pepe to finish just before the half-hour mark. Seven minutes later, Samu Omorodion beat Matthijs de Ligt and scored the equalizer with a header.

The Portuguese also started better in the second half and it took less than five minutes for the comeback to be achieved when the two goalscorers came together – Pepe saved for Samu, who gave De Ligt the ball again.

The situation became even more absurd for United when Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the 81st minute and they looked lost until Maguire equalized at the end of an Eriksen corner. After four games without a win, the pressure continues to grow on the Dutch coach, who must explain why his team has suffered such an implosion.
