Brian Baldinger says what many Falcons fans are thinking

The two biggest talking points that came from a win over the Saints in Week 4 had nothing to do with the Falcons’ win. It was about Kyle Pitts’ zero-catch performance and Tyler Allgeier outperforming Bijan Robinson.

The former has been a topic of conversation for quite some time, and while there is still some work to be done on offense between Kirk Cousins and Zac Robinson, Pitts hasn’t helped himself much at all. There is blame for all parties.

As for Bijan Robinson, Falcons fans were frustrated with Terry Fontenot’s decision to draft a running back picked 8th overall after Tyler Allgeier’s record-setting rookie season.

Last week, Robinson was held in check by the Saints’ defense and carried the ball seven times for 28 yards, an average of 4.0 yards per carry, compared to Allgeier’s 60 yards on eight carries, an average of 7.5 corresponds.

Falcons fans aren’t the only ones wondering whether the fifth-round pick is a better runner in football than the first-round pick. Brian Baldinger questions the same thing.

Admittedly, Robinson regularly pulls more loaded boxes than his counterpart. That means the Falcons are passing the ball to Robinson more often than Allgeier, with seven or eight players in the tackle box.

With that in mind, you can’t argue that Robinson should get a majority of the transfers. Allgeier has earned his share, and if that’s the case, the Falcons have used a top-10 draft pick on a running back who splits carries. This is a terrible use of resources.

If trends continue, Terry Fontenot’s tenure will not be looked back fondly on.
