N&N: Tigers and Royals win; The Guardians play Saturday at 1 p.m

Tigers 3, Astros 1

The Tigers scored three runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. This is the only inning they scored, but with Tarik Skubal on the mound that was enough. This was a pretty typical Detroit game, except they scored 3 runs, not 2 or 1. Retained with the help of BABIP luck They took the lead in the 9th when Houston faced Sean Foley and Beau Brieske.

Royals 1, Orioles 0

This was a bigger surprise. Keep Baltimore to 0 runs? Especially with 3 innings of work from this bullpen?

Corbin Burnes dominated the Royals but made the mistake of giving up a single run.

Mets 8, Brewers 4

It looked like it was going to be another typical Mets back-and-forth game. lost 0:2; with a 3:2 lead; back 4:3. But the 5 points in the 5th game put an end to that. They didn’t homer. Neither did the Brewers.

Aaron Civale pitched three hitless innings. I enjoyed that.

Padres 4, Braves 0

Michael King dominated Atlanta and that’s what everyone should be talking about today. An absolutely spectacular performance where he struck out 12 in 7 innings.

Fernando Tatis provided the offense King needed when he leaned into a home run pitch in the first inning and sent him to the moon.

Additionally, we have estimates for arb salaries in 2025 and the Diamondbacks owner says he shouldn’t have given Jordan Montgomery any money.
