The new era of sports is a blessing because athletes have easy access to social media and love to engage in good old-fashioned trolling.

After losing Rashee Rice to what is believed to be a serious knee injury, there is no hiding the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs need a wide receiver. Look around the league, and the Miami Dolphins appear to be a team willing to sell some assets as they compete in the AFC East without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Insert Tyreek Hill trade rumors.

On Wednesday, Hill downplayed trade rumors as Miami started the 2024 season 1-3.

“I’m just focused on the here and now,” Hill told reporters. “We have a great team here and I want to be a part of it.”

But after those comments, Hill took to social media to inflame matters further by posting a meme that sent social media into a frenzy for a few hours.

He later posted how much he loves trolling us all.

There’s no denying that the Cheetah’s performance has plummeted since losing Tagovailoa to the horrific concussion that landed him on injured reserve.

Skylar Thompson was completely ineffective during his two starts with the Dolphins. With Tyler Huntley at quarterback on Monday Night Football against the Tennessee Titans, Hill caught four passes for just 23 yards. He was emotional on the sidelines and it was caught on camera. To the naked eye, he looked like a player who wouldn’t mind being traded.

“I wouldn’t call it screaming; “I’m just motivating my teammates,” Hill explained of the viral video.

At this point, you have to take Hill at his word. While many experts want the Chiefs to talk about a trade, he seems to really enjoy Miami despite the lack of production. And for good reason.

He’ll make just under $30 million to qualify for the Fins this year. In the great state of Florida, he doesn’t pay state income tax on it either.

It’s fun to dream about what a Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid reunion in Kansas City would look like, especially when they need it most. The Chiefs are 4-0, but this offense just doesn’t look right, especially given the multitude of injuries it has suffered.

Mahomes and Hill made sweet, sweet music together. NFL fans around the world remember flashbacks of Hill sprinting into the end zone, throwing up the deuces and immediately repeating a backflip. Acquiring Hill via trade would be like buying a fast-track pass to a third straight Super Bowl championship at an amusement park.

But now it might be time to leave those memories behind.

The Dolphins won’t eat a dime from this contract. Head coach Mike McDaniel loves the pairing of a healthy Tagovailoa, who is expected to be back soon, and the speedy Hill. Not to mention, it will be difficult to find a team in the AFC willing to help Reid and the Chiefs win their third straight Lombardi Trophy.
