Halloween fans rush to Dollar Tree to buy “cute” decorations for $1.25 – identical to Target’s but over 14 times cheaper

Summer is almost over and retailers are already stocking their shelves with everything shoppers need for Halloween.

Savvy shoppers can find seasonal, spooky decorations at Dollar Tree—and a viral knockoff is 93% cheaper than its nearly identical counterpart at Target.

Target sells a 72-inch spooky skeleton garland for $17.99, but savvy shoppers can get a nearly identical garland for a much lower price

Halloween is still months away, but fans of the spooky holiday are already stocking up on candy, costumes and seasonal decorations.

Dollar Tree is also getting in on the action, selling a plastic skeleton garland for just $1.25.

The 60-inch strands are almost identical to Target Funworld’s Scary Skeletons Garland Decoration.

Target’s version is slightly larger at 72 inches – about a foot longer.

However, Target’s Scary Skeletons retails for $17.99, so shoppers can save 93% by purchasing Dollar Tree’s slightly smaller copy instead.

Target’s spooky skeleton garland decoration is also not available in stores, meaning most shoppers will have to pay shipping on top of the nearly $20 price tag.

Since the item only recently went on sale at Target, there are no customer reviews available for shoppers to read and rate before purchasing.

BONES FOR SMALL CHEAP

Dollar Tree’s 60-inch plastic skeleton garland has a 4.5-star rating on the discount chain’s website, with shoppers praising the “fun” and “cute” product.

Other customers also appreciated the “realistic” design and said that the skeletons did not look “cartoon-like”.

“Great value and great fun!” exclaimed one buyer.

Halloween fans are rushing to Amazon to grab a viral pumpkin pillow – it’s identical to the one from Pottery Barn, but almost $20 cheaper

“We have taken them apart and will hand them over to the SPOOKS!” they added.

Most reviews praised the quality and value of the plastic skeleton garland despite its $1.25 price tag.

“Unusual little decoration. Great quality. Great value for money!” wrote one buyer.

“Halloween is my favorite time of year and these spooky skeleton garlands definitely add a great touch to indoor and/or outdoor decor,” wrote one customer.

Dollar Tree Scammers

Savvy shoppers have scoured Dollar Tree to find imitations of their favorite products

“The skeleton garland is amazing!” added another customer.

“Love these. Keep them in stock if you can. They’re a great deal. Thanks,” another customer shared.

Some buyers even gave tips on how to use the garland to make unique Halloween decorations.

“You can make all sorts of things out of them or leave them as they are and decorate with them,” writes one customer.

“Hung them on the lamp in my dining room. So cute. I might jazz them up a bit with glow in the dark spray paint. But they’re still good as is,” commented another shopper.

As prices of everyday goods rise across the country, shoppers want to make the most of their money.

Many budget-conscious shoppers and Halloween fans are finding that it’s not always worth breaking the bank for things that may only be used or displayed for a few weeks.

Instead, customers can shop for similar items or imitations at discount chains like Dollar Tree and get the best of both worlds: high-quality decor at a fraction of the price.

Dollar Tree Prices

Despite the store’s name, Dollar Tree has recently added items to its line that cost more than $1.

Most items in the store cost no more than $1.25, but items in the Dollar Tree Plus department cost up to $5.

As part of its efforts to diversify its products, Dollar Tree introduced Plus departments in 100 locations in 2019.

By 2022, Dollar Tree had added the items to over 1,500 locations.

“We believe that testing additional price points above $1 for Dollar Tree products will allow us over time to expand our assortment, introduce new products and meet more of our customers’ everyday needs,” President and CEO Michael Witynski said in a statement.

“Our brand promise is that customers get a lot for their money at Dollar Tree. We will continue to defend that promise with all our might, regardless of price.”

Scary flute

Dollar Tree is selling a variety of Halloween items this year, including plastic champagne flutes shaped like skeleton hands.

Dollar Tree’s version is nearly identical to a much more expensive version sold at Pottery Barn.

Instead of shelling out $29.50 for the glass at the home improvement chain, shoppers can purchase the Dollar Tree knockoff for just $1.25.

Shoppers called the fake a “great Halloween item” and said the flutes were “super cute” for table decorations and parties.

They also praised the flutes for their “great looks,” even though they were nearly 96% cheaper than Pottery Barn equivalents.

PETRIFICATION PLANTS

Shoppers continue to flock to Dollar Tree to purchase the spooky decorations, and one product is taking the season by storm.

Dollar Tree sells a decorative Creepy Plant, a $3 copy of Ashland’s Venus Flytrap Tabletop Décor.

“Ooooh, they chipped,” one Reddit user shared.

Michaels sells its version for $29.99, while Dollar Tree sells three unique artificial plants for $3 each.

This means savvy shoppers can purchase nearly ten plants at Dollar Tree for the price of just one at Michaels, instantly enhancing any Halloween party.
