Relaxing time for LA Galaxy before the next MLS game

With their upcoming game against the Colorado Rapids, the LA Galaxy are making the most of a rare week-long break.

With their next game against the Colorado Rapids scheduled for October 2nd, the Los Angeles Galaxy are taking advantage of a rare week-long break.

During this time, the players were able to relax, spend time with family and recover from the stressful season. At the same time, head coach Greg Vanney and his staff are focused on fine-tuning strategies for the final stretch of the regular season and the upcoming playoffs.

As the 2024 MLS season nears its end, the Galaxy are in a strong position. They played 31 games and collected 58 points, securing their place at the top of the Western Conference and second place in the Supporters’ Shield race.

The key to the Galaxy’s success this year has been their remarkable offensive performance. LA scored a conference-best 63 goals, making MLS history, becoming the first team to have four players, Gabriel Pec, Dejan Joveljic, Joseph Paintsil and Riqui Puig, each score 10 or more goals in the same season.

The team’s home form was particularly dominant, boasting the best record in the league at Dignity Health Sports Park. Meanwhile, their away performance has improved significantly, rising from 24th in the MLS standings in 2023 to 12th in 2024.

As part of this successful campaign, the LA Galaxy front office, led by Will Kuntz, confirmed the extension of Vanney’s contract until 2025.

The trigger for the extension was the Galaxy’s playoff qualification, but Vanney’s impressive leadership skills and tactical acumen have also earned him praise, with some pundits calling him a contender for MLS Coach of the Year.

While all eyes are on the postseason, the LA Galaxy are nine games away from potentially securing their first MLS title in a decade. If they can maintain their current form and cope with the demands of the final weeks of the season, 2024 could mark the triumphant return of a club once synonymous with MLS dominance.
