Georgia residents still have about seven days to register to vote in this year’s presidential election on November 5th.

According to the Georgia Secretary of State, eligible residents have until the close of business on October 7 to submit their voter registration application online or by U.S. mail.

People who do not have internet access can register to vote at their local elections and registration office, county library or county driver services department until next Monday.

According to their respective websites, voter registration and elections offices in Clayton, Cobb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties close at 5 p.m. during the week. According to its website, the DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections Office closes at 4:30 p.m.

Registration forms submitted by U.S. mail must be postmarked by the close of business at each county office on October 7th. Anyone who has not registered by the deadline will not be able to vote in the presidential election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald According to Mike Hassinger, Trump is the public information officer for elections in the Secretary of State’s office.

They also cannot take part in possible local runoff elections.

Early voting

Early voting in this fall’s election will take place from October 15th to November 1st. On Election Day, November 5, most polling stations are expected to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m

To register to vote in Georgia, you must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of the county, and at least 17.5 years old. Persons serving an active conviction for a crime of moral turpitude and persons found mentally incompetent by a judge are not eligible to vote.

Voting rights advocates are encouraging voting Georgia residents to vote early in person when possible to give themselves time to correct any problems before Election Day. Residents who wait until Election Day may find that their voting district has changed due to redistricting earlier this year.

Postal voting

Anyone who cannot vote in person can apply for a postal vote by post until October 25th. Mail-in ballots may experience delays in the U.S. Postal Service, preventing them from being received and processed in a timely manner.

According to the Secretary of State, as of Monday, September 30, more than 8.1 million people were listed in Georgia’s voter registration database. That includes about 1.89 million black voters.
