Fagioli: “Probably” my best performance at Juventus

Nicolò Fagioli admits the game against RB Leipzig was “probably” his best Juventus performance, although the Old Lady was “not perfect”.

Fagioli didn’t score but was one of the best players on the pitch in Juventus’ 3-2 win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.

The Italian playmaker finished the game with a passing accuracy of 98% and four key passes.

Juventus played with 10 men for more than 30 minutes in the second half after Michele Di Gregorio was sent off, but a brace from Dusan Vlahovic secured their second straight Champions League win.

“I think the first half was excellent, but it was a shame that they scored on a counterattack,” Fagioli told Amazon Prime Video.

“The coach told us at the break to be confident because we had a lot of chances. We equalized and then they dominated us mentally for five minutes, but luckily Dusan scored another great goal. We stayed focused and the performance was excellent. I can’t say it was perfect because when you concede two goals it’s never perfect, but we had big hearts.”

Was this his best performance with the senior Juventus team?

“It was probably that,” the midfielder admitted.

“It’s just the beginning. I had a difficult moment and it was my fault. Now I’m working hard and doing my best for this jersey.”

Fagioli has played seven games across all competitions this season, starting in the last two games against Genoa in Serie A and RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Fagioli’s contract at Allianz Stadium expires in June 2028.
