Lady Gaga confirms engagement to Michael Polansky

Gaga spoke to Vogue about her October cover story, published on September 5, and seemingly confirmed that she and the philanthropist were engaged.

“I had never met anyone like Michael. He’s so smart and so kind. And his life and my life are very different,” she told the magazine, describing Polansky as her fiancé. “He’s a very private guy and is with me for no other reason than because we’re compatible.”

Gaga added that she wanted her fans to know, “That I’m just so happy.” I’m healthy. I feel like the last time they heard from me in that way was ‘Chromatica,’ and that album was about an absolutely terrible time for me with my mental health.”

“I was in a really dark place. Before that I fought for many years. But everything began to change. Because I had a real friend who saw why I was unhappy and why,” she continued. “And he wasn’t afraid to actually hold my hand. And get to know me. On a very deep level.”

Just a day before publishing their interview, Gaga and Polansky were dressed to the nines as they attended the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux” during the 81st Venice International Film Festival at the Sala Grande on September 4.

The engaged couple appeared to only have eyes for each other as they posed for photos – both coordinating in black ensembles.

On the red carpet, the actress’ stunning and large engagement ring was visible on her left hand.

On “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on October 1, the “Joker: Folie à Deux” actress shared the story behind her fiancé’s thoughtful proposal, revealing that she initially thought he would pop the question at that point.

“He proposed to me right after my birthday. So my birthday came around and I was like, ‘Eh, I thought maybe he was going to propose,'” she began, laughing.

Gaga explained that the couple went rock climbing during a trip together, which shocked host Jimmy Kimmel. He asked if she had always been a climber.

“I do now!” she said, before whispering to the studio audience: “I would do anything for love.”

The “Poker Face” singer continued, “He didn’t propose to me at the top. We climbed up, looked around, took a few photos and then went back down. And we just went back into the room and talked and he said, “Actually, it was very Michael to ask me if he could ask me.” He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he did one made the request.”

Gaga said she replied, “Yes! It’s so okay!’”

When Kimmel gave her a hard time at the top of the mountain about Polansky not proposing, Gaga clapped back, saying, “I think that was smart!” It was safe, safe down there.”

“He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute. He got into his backpack and pulled it out,” she added, mimicking the motion of opening a backpack.

She noticed that her now fiancé didn’t get down on his knees, but that didn’t bother her as she described herself as a “modern woman.”
