Samsung SCH-B600 10-megapixel camera phone announced

The world’s first 10-megapixel camera phone with mobile TV function

Samsung strengthens its technology leadership by launching the world’s first 10-megapixel mobile phone (model: SCH-B600) in the Korean market.

Samsung achieved another milestone in the camera phone field with the launch of a 10-megapixel camera phone, which was unveiled at CeBIT in March this year. Samsung was the first manufacturer to launch a mobile phone with an integrated camera in 2000. Samsung also launched the world’s first 5-megapixel camera phone in October 2004 and the world’s first 7-megapixel camera phone in July 2005.

Samsung’s 10-megapixel camera phone (SCH-B600) is 6 mm thinner and 10 g lighter than its 7-megapixel camera phone (SCH-V770), and differs from its previous megapixel camera phones by combining it with satellite-standard mobile TV capability.

The B600 offers the same image quality as a 10-megapixel digital camera. Camera features include 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. It also has autofocus and a flash that is optimal for 10-megapixel photos.

In addition, the B600 is equipped with an LED autofocus function that helps users take clear, sharp photos even in dark environments. The LED autofocus located next to the lens automatically determines the distance and uses the appropriate focus setting for optimal photo shooting.

The B600 also supports white balance, manual focus, continuous shooting, and interval shooting.

It also supports Bluetooth, allowing users to send images wirelessly to other mobile phones, printers or Bluetooth headsets.

The high color rendering TFT LCD provides the highest possible display for its size. The photo-fine chrome LCD can reproduce 16 million colors, virtually every color found in nature, earning it the designation “True Color.” Moving images can be recorded in QVGA resolution at 15-30 frames per second. Users can watch live TV in crisp image via the satellite DMB function.

It supports external storage (MMCmicro) in addition to internal storage. The mobile phone has a TV-out function that allows users to connect their phones to watch still or moving images.

The design of the B600 is reminiscent of a real digital camera. The front is designed as a stick-shaped mobile phone, while the back serves as a digital camera.

Other advanced features of the B600 include an MP3 player, a business card reader and 128 polyphonic sounds.

The price of B600 in Korea is about 900,000 won (about 900 US dollars).
