MANNA Food Bank launches an important fundraising and distribution effort at the WNC Farmers Market. Donations will be accepted October 2-5 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Items required:

• Shelf-stable foods (preferably pop-top cans, no can opener required)
• Bottled water
• Baby and toddler food and nutrition
• Diapers

The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office says donations can be dropped off at Woodland Baptist Church, 545 Crabtree Road inWaynesville.Click here for a list of needed items and volunteer information.

In CantonDonations will be accepted behind City Hall (85 Summer Street). Donations will be forwarded to the IP Sports Complex for distribution. Items needed include:

• Non-perishable foods and pop-top cans
• Water (gallon jugs)
• Baby food, diapers, wet wipes
• Pet food
• Toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant)
• First aid supplies
• Feminine products
• Soap, disinfectant, paper towels, cleaning products
• New socks and underwear
• Batteries (AA, C, D)
• Rope and tarpaulins
• Gloves (nitrile, latex, leather)
• Shovels
• Bar and chain oil
• small propane tanks

Henderson County

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is asking donors to utilize the newly established donation drop-off location at 118 McAbee Court, Flat Rock, NC

The HCSO said thisDrop off donated items at the distribution center at McAbee CourtAndnot directly at the six other resource locationsThese were put in place because Henderson County has employees at the distribution center who receive donations and distribute them to the six other resource locations for the public to pick up.

McAbee Court is for donations only.

Non-perishable items such as bottled water, toiletries and baby powder are accepted. However, the site does not accept perishable food items or new/used clothing items.

In addition, Henderson County has launched aHealth check status cardformissing contacts. On this map, people whose whereabouts and safety are unknown are shown in red, while the blue dots indicate contacts made.

McDowell County

Donation drop-off point:Donations of essential supplies can be made to the Universal Advanced Manufacturing Center located at 634 College Drive, Marion, NC. The following items are permitted:

• Bottled water
• Baby supplies (diapers, wipes, etc.)
• Non-perishable foods
• Drop-off times are daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Polk County

For those who wish to donate in Polk County but are physically unable to do so, donations and supplies can now be mailed through Tryon International to 4066 Pea Ridge Road, Mill Spring, NC

Anyone interested in making a financial contribution to the recovery effort can make out a check to the Green River Foundation and mail it to the address above with “Hurricane Helene Relief” noted in the memo.

100% of donations go to relief efforts in Polk, Rutherford, Henderson and Buncombe counties in North Carolina and Spartanburg County, South Carolina. 100% of donations are tax deductible.

Transylvania District

That’s what the sheriff’s office says Anchor Baptist coordinates volunteer efforts and accepts donations to support these efforts. Contact Anchor Baptist directly for donations or volunteer availability. They will coordinate to support the distribution of public resources such as food, water and other relief supplies.
