John Amos’ daughter Shannon has revealed that she found out about her father’s death through the media.

“We are devastated and have many questions about how this happened 45 days ago since, like so many of you, we found out about it through the media,” wrote Shannon Amos in a caption to a post on her official Instagram account .

Amos, best known for playing the role of patriarch James Evans Sr. in “ Good timesdied on August 21st in Los Angeles at the age of 84. His son KC announced his death from natural causes on October 1st.

Shannon Amos added on Instagram: “This should be a time to honor and celebrate his life, but we are struggling to cope with the wave of emotions and uncertainty that his death brings.” Still, there is some semblance of it Peace in knowing my father is finally free.”

The Hollywood Reporterrevealed the bitter battle between Amos’ children as they fought each other over their father’s care and his inheritance in a November 2023 feature, with Shannon Amos publicly accusing her brother KC of elder abuse, a claim he denied.
