National evening on October 1stst at Union Point Park

Join us at Union Point Park, 210 East Front Street, for our National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This event promises fun and activities for all ages.

This year’s event will feature games, food and important community information. Meet first responders from various agencies, including our New Bern Police Department K9s. Explore the NC Highway Patrol’s antique cruiser, the New Bern Police Department SWAT vehicle, the NC Wildlife boat and the New Bern Fire-Rescue. The New Bern Police Department will provide free firearms safety equipment to residents through a partnership with Project ChildSafe, a statewide firearms safety education program. Enjoy food from The Charburger, Frank’s Franks, Sens Able Snacks, Funnels of Love, Jasmine Tasty Thai and Kona Ice. Children will love the bouncy castles and games.

National Night Out strengthens police-community partnerships and showcases local resources. Our event creates a welcoming atmosphere for sharing information and building relationships between citizens and organizations. It brings police and citizens together in a positive environment.

Millions of neighbors in the United States, its territories and military bases worldwide celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August. The National Night Out celebration in New Bern was originally scheduled for August 6, but had to be postponed due to weather. Created by the U.S. Department of Justice in 1984, this event promotes community spirit through block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and safety demonstrations.
