    Who are JD Vance’s children? Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel Vance

    While the vice presidential candidate travels the country advocating for children and families, this senator from Ohio leaves behind a very young family.

    Republican JD Vance may be former President Donald Trump’s nominee in the upcoming election, but he is also a lawyer, author, war veteran, husband and proud “dad.”

    During his speech at the Republican National Convention on July 17, Vance said the accomplishment he was most proud of in his life was his family. “My most important American dream was to be a good husband and a good father,” he said. “I wanted to give my children the things I didn’t have as a child.”

    During this speech, Vance shouted to his children, “If you’re watching, Daddy loves you very much, but put your butt to bed, it’s 10 o’clock.”

    Here’s what we know about Vance and his wife and their three children, Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

    JD and Usha Chilukuri Vance

    JD Vance, 40, and Usha Chilukuri, 38, were students at Yale University when they met and both graduated from Yale Law School.

    Born in Middletown, Ohio, JD is a graduate of Ohio State University, having served in the United States Marine Corps and being a veteran of the Iraq War. His career included stints as a law clerk, corporate lawyer, venture capitalist and author before becoming a United States Senator from Ohio. He wrote a memoir about his childhood called Hillbilly Elegy, which was later made into a film.

    Usha was born in San Diego to immigrant parents from Andhra Pradesh, India. Her professional career has included serving as a law clerk for Justices Amul Thapar, Brett Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts, and working for the law firm Munger, Tolles and Olsen LLP.

    In 2014, JD and Usha married in Kentucky in an interfaith wedding ceremony as she is a practicing Hindu and he is a Christian. They share two sons – Ewan, 6, Vivek, 4 – and a daughter named Mirabel, 2.

    Ewan Vance

    Ewan Blaine Vance is the eldest son, born in June 2017. In an interview with Megan Kelly in 2017, Usha described the surprise pregnancy and anticipation of her first son.

    Kelly later congratulated the parents on Ewan’s birth and posted a picture of the happy family on her social media account.

    Vivek Vance

    The second son, Vivek, was born in February 2020, less than three years after Ewan.

    During a speech on the Senate floor on February 12, Vance took the opportunity to offer Vivek an endearing birthday wish: “I have a little guy named Vivek, who was three years old yesterday but turned four today.”

    Vance apologized for not being there before continuing, “But I want you to know that Daddy loves you very much. And I’m going to read that into the record because maybe you can watch it at home,” and then he recited the Dr. Seuss’ 1990 classic “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” According to The Hill, Vivek’s name was inserted into the final verse.

    Mirabel Vance

    In December 2021, the couple welcomed their third child and first daughter, Mirabel.

    According to People, Vance shared the news in a social media post with a picture of the couple and the baby from the hospital. The caption read: “We were blessed with an early Christmas present this year. Please introduce everyone to Mirabel Rose Vance, our first baby girl. Mom and baby are both doing great and we are very grateful this holiday season.”
