The Panthers signed cornerback and former first-round pick Caleb Farley to the practice squad

The Carolina Panthers have signed a cornerback Caleb Farley to her practice squad, NFL Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday. Farley was a first-round pick Virginia Tech to the Tennessee Titans in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He only played three games in his rookie season before suffering a torn ACL. He rebounded again and appeared in nine contests in 2022, recording ten tackles. Unfortunately, he spent all of 2023 on the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

The Titans released him in August, just before the start of the regular season. Carolina is the first team he has signed with since then.

Although he is only a member of the training squad at the moment, perhaps this can be a chance for Farley to revive a once promising career. Injuries bothered him in the pros, but he showed his talent in college with the Hokies.

Farley was named first team All-ACC as a senior at Virginia Tech in 2019. He recorded a league-high 16 passes defensed and four interceptions as the Hokies finished 8-5.

Carolina could use some help on defense after the starting lineup Shaq Thompson And Josey Jewell missed last week due to injury. The Panthers are off to a 1-3 start and will face the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
