Predicted line-up of AC Milan against Bayer Leverkusen: Champions League

Champions League action returns when reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen host AC Milan at the BayArena.

The Rossoneri earned a 3-0 win over Lecce in Serie A, Paulo Fonseca’s third win in all competitions as new Milan coach. The victory was also Milan’s second consecutive victory in league play following their 2-1 victory over rivals Inter Milan last weekend, which lifted them to third place in the Serie A table.

Fonseca will look to keep the momentum going to get his first three points in the Champions League. The former Lille coach cannot afford to change his team much while playing against one of the best teams in Europe, given the injuries to Álvaro Morata and Ismaël Bennacer.

GK: Mike Maignan– The veteran goalkeeper is fresh off a seven-save performance that helped Milan keep a clean sheet against Lecce.

RB: Emerson Royal– The former Tottenham Hotspur full-back has seen an upturn in his form of late and is expected to be handed the right-back position.

CB: Matteo Gabbia–Fonseca has relied on Gabbia so far this season when Strahinja Pavlović wasn’t quite up to speed.

CB: Fikayo Tomori–Tomori is one of Milan’s most important players, keeping things under control in the heart of the defense.

LB: Theo Hernandez– The French international was able to catch his breath at the end of the Lecce game and should be fit and strong against Leverkusen.

DM: Tijjani Reijnders–Reijnders has been inconsistent at the start of the new Serie A season but is capable of running the show on his day.

DM: Youssouf Fofana–Fonseca opted to save Fofana’s legs by replacing him at the start of the second half against Lecce and he should be fit against a strong Leverkusen midfield.

RW: Christian Pulisic– The USMNT captain will look to continue his incredible scoring streak to lead Milan to victory.

AM: Ruben Loftus Cheek– The former Chelsea midfielder takes over the number 10 role after Morata’s injury.

LW: Rafael Leão– The electric winger was on the right track last time out, picking up an assist to do his part in the win over Lecce.

ST: Tammy Abraham–Abraham has proven solid in the Rossoneri’s attack, with his aerial talent and ability to hold the ball up for his teammates to run behind the defense.
