Ralph Lauren

Sheryl Lee Ralph says she is grateful that Hurricane Beryl did not cause the devastating damage some had expected in Jamaica, but she is still asking for “help” for the island of Carriacou.

“It looks like Hurricane Beryl has passed and is running like a Jamaican track and field star to a new race!” Abbott Elementary School Actress wrote in a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Thank you all for your good vibes and prayers. We haven’t been directly hit and are grateful, but Carriacou needs help.”

In an accompanying video, Ralph said: “Thank you all for your good vibes and prayers.”

“Oh my God – listen to this,” she continued. “This is the sound of peace returning. We have no light, no electricity. But we have life.”

Ralph thanked her followers for their “understanding” and added that her home is in Kingston on the east coast. “Beryl has been scrubbing us but she’s on her way to somewhere else.”

At the end of the video, she sang Bob Marley’s “One Love” and said, “Everything’s going to be OK. Oh, thank God. I’m praying for sunshine on Saturday.”

Ralph has been updating her followers ahead of the hurricane’s landfall. In a video posted Wednesday, she said she was “checking out all the outdoor furniture because you know, those things are flying around” and urged others to “please stay inside,” obey the island’s curfew and “stay off the streets.”

An hour later, she gave another update, telling her followers that she couldn’t sleep due to the approaching storm and had switched to Netflix.

“Okay, I can’t sleep! So I’m going to @netflix and relax from the hurricane nerves and watch #Supacell while I can,” she wrote in a post, referring to Netflix’s new superhero series.

Beryl passed over Jamaica as a powerful Category 4 storm after devastating islands in the southeastern Caribbean. According to CNN, Jamaica’s south coast was hardest hit by the storm’s winds, although the entire island was affected by heavy rains.
