At least eight people were killed and at least seven injured in a shooting in the Israeli city of Jaffa, near Tel Aviv, local officials told Fox News.

The incident, believed to be a terrorist attack, occurred Tuesday in front of a newly built light rail station on Jerusalem Street.

According to authorities, at least two people who opened fire on a crowd were neutralized.

Shortly after the shooting, Israel faced further attacks, with Iran firing about 100 ballistic missiles.

Many were intercepted by Israel’s missile defense systems, while others ended up on the ground.

Iran had previously threatened to fire missiles at Israel.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said in a statement that it was in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The Israel Defense Forces eventually issued a message to the Israelis informing them that it was safe to leave their protected areas.
